Frequently Asked Questions

How do I compare savings accounts?
Enter the APY (Annual Percentage Yield), monthly fees, minimum balance, initial deposit, and monthly contribution for each account. The tool calculates the final balance, total interest earned, fees paid, and effective net APY.
What currencies are supported?
The tool supports 15 currencies: USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD, AUD, INR, BRL, CHF, SGD, HKD, NZD, KRW, MXN, and ZAR. Select your preferred currency from the dropdown at the top.
What is contribution escalation?
Contribution escalation lets you specify a yearly percentage increase to your monthly deposits. For example, 3% escalation means you increase your monthly contribution by 3% each year to account for raises or inflation.
What are the what-if scenarios?
The tool includes 8 scenarios: Current, +1% APY, No Fees, 2x Deposit, +5 Years, Recession (-1.5% APY, halved contributions), Aggressive (+50% contributions, +30% deposit), and Best Case (+1.5% APY, no fees, 1.5x deposit).
How does the compound frequency comparison work?
The tool shows how daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly compounding affect your final balance for the top-ranked account. Higher compounding frequency generally yields slightly more interest.
Is my data stored on your server?
No. All calculations happen in your browser. Your data is never sent to any server. History is saved locally in your browser's localStorage.

How to Calculate

Each account's balance is projected month-by-month using the formula: balance = balance + deposits - fees + compound_interest. Interest compounds at the selected frequency (daily, monthly, quarterly, or yearly). Contribution escalation applies a yearly percentage increase to monthly deposits. Tax and inflation adjustments are applied to the final results for real-return calculations.
