Frequently Asked Questions

How does the AI Text Summarizer work?
It uses TextRank, a graph-based ranking algorithm. Each sentence is scored based on its similarity to all other sentences, and the most central sentences are selected. Everything runs in your browser.
Is my text sent to any server?
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, stored, or transmitted. You can work completely offline after the page loads.
Can I manually choose which sentences to include?
Yes. After summarizing, open the Sentence Ranking panel. Every sentence is listed with its TextRank score. Check or uncheck sentences to customize the summary in real time.
What summarization modes are available?
Three modes: Short (2-3 key sentences), Medium (paragraph-length summary, ~25% of original), and Detailed (bullet-point summary, ~40% of original).
Can I control the summary length?
Yes. In Medium mode, use the compression slider to adjust the summary from 10% to 50% of the original text length. You can also fine-tune by toggling individual sentences in the Sentence Ranking panel.
What is TextRank?
TextRank is a graph-based ranking algorithm inspired by Google's PageRank. It builds a graph where sentences are nodes and similarity scores are edges, then iteratively computes which sentences are most central to the text.
What is the maximum text length?
You can summarize up to 5,000 characters per session. There are no daily limits and no sign-up required.
Can I copy or export the summary?
Yes. Click the Copy button to copy the summary to your clipboard. Export as .txt or .doc file.

About the AI Text Summarizer

The AI Text Summarizer is a free online tool that condenses articles, research papers, blog posts, and notes into clear, concise summaries — all in your browser. Students use it to extract key points from study materials, professionals summarize reports and emails, and content writers distill source material before rewriting.

The tool uses TextRank, a graph-based extractive summarization algorithm inspired by Google's PageRank. It builds a similarity graph of all sentences, then iteratively computes which sentences are most central to the text. The interactive Sentence Ranking panel gives you full control — every sentence shows its TextRank score, and you can toggle individual sentences on or off to customize the summary in real time.

Beyond summarization, the tool extracts top keywords with frequency bars, calculates readability scores (Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level, Reading Ease, and Fog Index), and computes a summary quality score based on content coverage and diversity. You can listen to the summary with built-in text-to-speech, copy to clipboard, export as .txt or PDF, and restore past summaries from browser history.

Summaries are extracted from text you provide in-session using local heuristics. Paste articles, choose length, and always verify key facts against the source.
